Melodies with Marilyn

Picture
At the age of five, to my Mother's surprise, I began playing the music I heard her practicing.  In short order, my own piano lessons began, and I continued to study right through college where I earned a BA in Music Education.  Even before earning that degree, I had begun accompanying soloists and ensembles in churches, schools, and other venues.  I had found my calling.

For 10 years I served as full-time accompanist for a high school choir whose many achievements included qualifying to sing on the stage of Carnegie Hall.  Playing the piano on that famous stage in my role as accompanist was a career highlight!  I continue to enjoy accompanying soloists, choirs, and shows.

After years of accompanying, I discovered I too like to sing!  Opportunities came along to sing nostalgic tunes with audiences who loved them.  My varied repertoire--including standards from the 20's, 30's, and 40's, as well as favorite hymns, show-tunes--and maybe even a classical selection or two--provides a little something for everyone.

Several years of working in Activities Departments at three different long term care facilities have made me keenly aware of the importance of music in the lives of the residents. I'm thrilled to be able to share my passion for music with such appreciative audiences.  In their faces, I see reflected my own love for music, and I'm honored to share that joy.

These were recorded for my family's enjoyment.  Now you can hear them, too!
